Trauma Therapy for Healing and Renewal

Woman painting glaze on coffee cup she made.

Trauma leaves an indelible mark, especially for Givers—those who dedicate their lives to helping, creating, and caring for others. Whether you're a caregiver, healthcare professional, creative, or empath, trauma can weigh heavily, making it hard to connect with yourself and others.

At E-MOTIVE Counseling, I provide a supportive, healing space where you can process and release the burden of trauma, empowering you to rediscover balance and thrive through trauma recovery and self-care.

The Pain of Givers Facing Trauma:

Trauma impacts everyone differently, but Givers often experience unique challenges, including:

Overwhelming Emotional Residue

Carrying the emotional weight of others' pain or your own can feel paralyzing.

Self-Neglect

Prioritizing others while ignoring your own wounds, leaving your needs unmet.

Hypervigilance

Constantly on edge, expecting something to go wrong, and struggling to find peace.

Difficulty Trusting

Feeling disconnected from others, even those you care about deeply.

Creative Blocks

Trauma stifles self-expression, making it hard to create or innovate.

These challenges make it harder to move forward and live fully, leaving many Givers feeling stuck, disconnected, and unsure where to turn.

When you take time to care for yourself, you’re not just healing—you’re building the strength and balance to show up fully for those you care about.

Trauma Therapy For Emotional Healing

Healing from trauma is not just possible—it’s transformative. Imagine:

- Feeling safe and at ease in your own body and mind.

- Reconnecting with the passions and creativity that once lit you up.

- Cultivating deeper, more meaningful relationships with those around you.

- Finding balance between giving to others and honoring your own needs.

- Feeling empowered to let go of the past and embrace a future filled with possibility.

How I Help: Somatic Therapy to Release Trauma

My therapy approach is tailored to Givers and grounded in techniques designed to address trauma at its roots. Together, we’ll explore:

Phase One: Restoring Your Foundation Through Sleep

Trauma often disrupts sleep, leading to restless nights and constant fatigue. We begin with Behavioral Sleep Medicine, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), to help you regain the rest you need to heal.

Key Outcomes:

  • Improved sleep quality, reducing emotional and physical exhaustion.
  • Restored energy and focus, setting the stage for deeper work.
  • Enhanced emotional resilience, making it easier to engage in the healing process.

This phase can take 4-6 sessions over 1-2 months on a weekly to bi-weekly basis.

Phase Two: Trauma Healing and Renewal

Once sleep is stabilized, we’ll dive into addressing the trauma itself. Using a combination of techniques, we’ll gently guide your mind and body toward healing:

  • Brainspotting: Uncover and release deeply held emotional and physical triggers tied to trauma.

  • Dance/Movement Therapy: Reconnect with your body as a safe space and use movement to process and release stored tension.

  • Person-Centered Therapy: Explore your thoughts and emotions in a compassionate, non-judgmental environment.

Key Outcomes:

  • Release from the emotional grip of past traumas.
  • A stronger connection to your body as a source of safety and empowerment.
  • Greater self-compassion and reduced feelings of guilt or shame.
  • Tools to manage future stressors without being overwhelmed.

This phase can take 3 months or more working on a weekly to biweekly basis.

FAQ: Therapy for Trauma in Givers

Yes! Therapy can help you understand how past experiences might be impacting your present relationships and emotional well-being. We can work through those experiences in a safe and supportive way, promoting healing and healthier connections.

Nope. Therapy is a collaborative process. We'll work together to set goals and achieve them at your pace. There's no right or wrong answer, just honest exploration and support.

Trauma exists on a spectrum, and what hurts one person deeply might not affect another the same way. Your feelings are valid, and what matters most is how your experiences are impacting you now.

Therapy is a safe space where judgment is left at the door. We'll explore your experiences without blaming anyone, focusing on finding healthy ways to move forward.

While remembering past events can be challenging, we'll approach them at your pace and use techniques to manage difficult emotions. Ultimately, the goal is to gain understanding and heal, not re-traumatize you.

It's like a safe space for you to be yourself. We'll chat, explore your experiences, and work together to find solutions that work for you. No pressure, just understanding and support.

I understand the difficulty of trust after experiencing attachment trauma. I'm a compassionate therapist with experience working with creative individuals. I create a safe and supportive space where you can feel understood and heard without judgment.

For this reason, I offer free consultations to answer your questions and discuss your concerns. It's an opportunity to see if we're a good fit and determine if therapy aligns with your goals.

Yep!  It can help you manage stress, overcome challenges, improve relationships, and unlock your full creative potential. If you're ready to invest in yourself and your well-being, therapy might be the right move.

Here is why should you consider therapy services without insurance involvement:

  • Offering a SuperBill for potential insurance reimbursement or out-of-network coverage assistance.
  • Ensuring privacy and confidentiality without insurance interference.
  • Providing therapy without the need for a diagnosis often required by insurance companies.
  • Empowering you to control the frequency and timing of therapy sessions, prioritizing individual needs over insurance mandates.
  • Enhancing care coordination by collaborating with a network of healthcare providers for comprehensive treatment solutions.

  • Feeling overwhelmed? Regular sessions (like weekly) might offer the most support.
  • Doing okay but need a boost? Meeting every other week could be a good fit.
  • Feeling good but seeking guidance? Monthly check-ins might be ideal.

We'll work together to find a schedule that works best for you!

This can depend on the pace that you need to take towards healing. Most people say they start to feel some relief within the first few weeks to months. The duration of therapy can range from 6 months for short-term support to over a year for longer-term care. Regular in-depth check-ins every 3-4 months help ensure you make optimal progress.
